Presenting some research..
..at the DMRN workshop in London, Queen Mary’s
tomorrow. It will be a poster presentation of some of my IoSR work,
including an audio demonstrator. http://www.elec.qmul.ac.uk/dmrn/ Lot’s
of good things happening at this event, well worth the small
registration fee if you are interested. In unrelated news, just
finished an 11 CD set for Naxos. Christmas here we come...!

Naxos Audiobooks
I’ve just completed editing a 4 CD box set project
for legendary
classical label Naxos’ Audiobooks imprint. Can’t say too much about it
at the moment as it hasn’t been released yet, but the voice talent is
really something quite special - I’ll fill you in on the details when
it’s on sale. I’m now working on the next project... likely to be three
or four times the size! Better crack on...

Wiki Recording
I’ve been making some contributions to the
WikiRecording pages (most
recently on de-essing, loudspeaker monitor placement, and vocal pitch
correction). You can see my most recent articles and edits here

Old chums done good!
I just got an email from my old friends Spectrum
7. They have signed to
XtraMile Recordings (Frank Turner, Reuben, Million Dead) and have a
debut EP coming up soon. I produced their first records in a little
studio in Hampshire some time ago... and I must be honest, I had
forgotten all about it. Anyway, it’s worth a listen, and it’s available
in all the usual places... good luck chaps!

AES Munich
An enjoyable weekend presenting our paper via a
Poster session at the
AES conference, as part of the technical paper sessions on signal
processing and psychoacoustics. Also spent the evening with Peter and
Wes of the APRS enjoying the atmosphere of the Munich town centre (and
beer halls!).

Back from Beijing
I was lucky enough to
spend a week visiting
the Beijing College of Engineering and Computer Science, as part of the
World City Links programme currently being undertaken by the LDA. An
eye opening experience and I look forward to working with the college
and their team this coming autumn when they visit London.
Anyway, home now, time to re-adjust the body
clock!

Bali, Sumatra, Komodo..
I'm back
from Indonesia. Soaked up local music (I have been away from Gamelan
for too long), intimidating wildlife (Sumatran Lizards... aka
man-eating Komodo Dragons) and the occasional cup of Arak. Amazing
place - can’t wait to return.

Ibiza Rocks
Spent a couple of days in the company of Mr Dave Berry et al from the
XFM drivetime camp in Ibiza recording the Pigeon Detectives.. pic is of
current NME darling Ladyhawke from the show.
Lots of mojito involved, and a very bizarre hotel it was too - managed
to avoid any sunburn though!

Hollywood to Vegas
It would be
rude to walk right past Jim Morrisson and not stop to say hello...!

Response to Sound on Sound...
...
article. I just came across an interesting take on an old ‘Sound on Sound’
article, on the Audio Masterclass site.
Audio
Masterclass is one of the best distance learning courses for Sound
Engineering out there - recommended if you are in the market... quite
gratifying that the article made an impact there! :)
